The first time I touched tencel denim I was so surprised - it is a really special cloth. It is sooooo much softer than a cotton denim and has a more fluid drape. Essentially it's a really thick viscose in its handle. This is a 8.3oz denim, a medium weight denim, so suitable for all kinds of dressmaking.

This would be absolutely perfect for denim dresses, skirts, dungarees and boilersuits. It's a super versatile cloth and because it has a softer drape than a similar weight cotton, the finished garment will be more fluid. Because of the twill weave, the fabric has a tendency to fray, so it may be advisable to finish the edges with an overlocker or zigzag stitch straight after you cut out. So the fraying is kept to a minimum.

This fabric is 100% tencel, meaning it is better for the environment than standard viscose. Tencel™ fibres are derived from responsibly managed forests and are certified to come from sustainable sources.

We sell our fabric by the half metre – PRICES SHOWN ARE PER HALF METRE.  If you would like a metre then add ‘2’ in the quantity box. For example:

  • 0.5m    = 1
  • 1m       = 2
  • 1.5m    = 3
  • 2m       = 4
  • 2.5m    = 5
  • 3m       = 6

And so on… All orders will be cut in continuous lengths, unless you ask otherwise.
