Seam circles - Jenerates by Jen Hogg

£17.00

Seam circles are a sewists secret weapon. Use the interlocking circles to add or subtract the seam and hem allowances from sewing patterns.

Seam circles are perfect if you need to alter a pattern piece - simply remove the seam allowance, make your alteration and add the seam allowance back on at the end. They're also ideal if you're using patterns that don't have a seam allowance built in, such as a Fibre Mood or Burda.

Other uses of the seam circles include: adding seam allowances to self-drafted patterns; drafting facings; removing/adding seam allowances for hacking; marking a sewing or top-stitching line for precision sewing; drafting echo quilting lines; marking pad stitching lines; drawing rounded corners; and many more uses.

This is a metric kit which contains:

  • an interlocking set of circles 1cm, 2cm, and 3cm
  • 1 x additional 1cm circle
  • 2 x 1.5cm circles
  • 2 x 0.5cm circles

All measurements are the circle radius.

Packaged in a high quality hand-stamped aluminium tin 110 x 70 x 15mm.

Made in Scotland from 4mm thick cherry wood veneer.

How to use:

Select the size circle you need. Place your pen through the centre of the hole. Keeping the outside of the circle against the pattern line, push along the pattern to make your line. It doesn't matter how you keep the circle on the line: roll it along a ruler, use your other hand, guide it with your finger. Whatever works best for you. The seam circles are compatible with Frixion pens, so you can mark onto paper or fabric and iron away if required.
