Meet Superbloom and Slapdash Sweatshirting
It's always my goal to stock fabrics that are warm AND colourful when the weather takes a turn for the chilly, so I'm really delighted to be launching Bornella Fabrics first ever Sweatshirting collection: Superbloom and Slapdash sweatshirting. They're launching at the Knit+Stitch Show at Alexandra Palace on Thursday 9th October.
Perfect for dressmaking, this sweatshirting is 95% cotton and 5% elastane to give is a good stretch and recovery. The front side has the classic knit texture and the reverse is a deliciously soft brushed back which means it'll keep you toasty warm and be cosy against the skin. Having sewn quite a few samples already, I can tell you it's a delight to sew... and I'm not just saying that, I promise!
There are two designs:
Superbloom you may recognise if you've followed my business for a while. It was designed by Sholto Drumlanrig, who designs for brands including Liberty, Boden, Next and Dashwood, to name a few. We've brought back the original black background with wonderfully vibrant flowers which pop against each other.
Slapdash is a brand new design, created in collaboration with Louise King from Ethel and Joan and artworked by Lisa from Cocobloom. Louise trained in Fine Arts before eventually setting up her business Ethel & Joan which specialises in handmade resin haberdashery, jewellery and more. Her painting style involves brushstrokes and I fell in love with how it looked on fabric. It's vibrant and unique - I'm not sure I've seen anything quite like it and that's a joy.
I hope you love the sweatshirting collection as much as I do!
